In this edition of our Behind The Desk series, we caught up with Justin Heit of RAEN Optics and Libre Design. He gave us a sneak peek into their offices, day-to-day lives and what’s inspiring the RAEN team this season. Read more after the jump!
 


 
I start my day with… A gentle kick to the head from our one year old Leo who sleeps horizontal between my wife and I.

 
I get organized & ready for the day by… Multiple cups of coffee & a surf in the morning.

 
Everyone in the office usually heads to… The Union or The Ale House across the street in Encinitas for lunch, where someone always… orders way too many Stone IPAs.

 
My favorite feature in the office is… our inspiring, amplifying team members

 
and you can usually hear…The Joy Division Pandora station on repeat.

 
It’s clear we’re done for the day when… The waves are really good, the bar across the street starts to get too loud or the wives, kids or girlfriends start blowing up the cell phones to come home.

 
I knew we needed to start a handmade eyewear company when… I was in college and spent over a $100 for a pair of injection frames that didn’t last one week on a surf trip in Costa Rica.

 
My proudest moment with RAEN to date is… When Dan the UPS man could no longer carry out orders to his truck without a dolly.

 
This season we’re inspired by… A continued draw from the classics, with an infusion of contemporary details. Optics by Carl Zeiss Vision on all styles brings a level of modern technology to the classic hand made shapes and new colors to old favorites are keeping things fresh across the board for this season.
